My Warhol Exhibit Call for Art & Free Workshop to Create Your Masterpiece
Calling all aspiring artists ages 5-14: here is your chance to exhibit your very own artwork at the Coppell Arts Center's Mr. Cooper Group Lobby Gallery! Your artwork will be on display November 21st through December 10th. Artists may participate in a free workshop on November 19th from 10:30am - 12:30pm to develop, refine, or complete their entries.
Requirements:
- Artwork must be created by artists no younger than 5 years old and no older than 14 years of age.
- It is preferred that entries will be completed on 16" x 20" paper or canvas.
- Artwork should be dropped off at the Coppell Arts Center Saturday, November 19th from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM or Sunday, November 20th from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM. All entries need to be labeled on the back with the artists' name, phone number and parent's e-mail address.
-Artwork must be picked up December 11th from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM.
The focus of the artwork must be Andy Warhol and should related to one of the theme ideas listed below:
Idea #1: Fantasy Shoes: Drawing/Painting/Collage a pair of footwear portraying the attributes or personality of a famous person or draw your favorite shoes and decorate them to express your personality.
Idea #2: Custom Campbell's Soup can: Draw or paint a campbell soup can and change the tomato to some unique flavor.
Idea #3: Pop Art portrait of a famous person: Trace a famous person’s face (or your own) and repeat the image 4 times in a square. Use different colors to draw or paint on each image.
Idea #4: Recreate a western scene using Warhol's techniques.

Learn More About Andy Warhol
Andrew Warhola was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1928. He later changed his name to Andy Warhol. He is an American artist and a leader of the pop art movement of the 1960s. When he was eight years old, Andy was sick in bed for several months, and his artistic mother gave him his first drawing lessons. He also read celebrity magazines and DC comic books. Growing up, he enjoyed movies. His mother bought him a camera, and he took up photography. He developed film in a makeshift darkroom in the basement. He took free art classes at the Carnegie Institute.
